My name is Aerin Booth and I am a Cloud Sustainability Advocate based in the UK. I have started this podcast because quite frankly I’m annoyed about the idea of a personal carbon footprint when it comes to fighting climate change.
All signs are pointing towards an increased use of Public Cloud Services over the next several decades, especially when it comes to the use of hyperscalers like Azure & AWS.
We need to start talking about how we use cloud services effectively, sustainably and quite frankly ethically. If we’re not vocal enough and challenging enough to ensure that sustainability is at the forefront of their strategy then we could be sleep walking into an monopolistic, environmental disaster.
I just feel that the amount of plastic that I recycle and the number of times I turn off my lights at home won’t really make a difference when it comes to the end of the world. Especially when large corporations are some of the biggest emitters of greenhouse gasses and billionaires are racing to pilot rockets into space.
I hope that the information that we share on this podcast will help you, Developers & Senior Leaders in tech, make decisions that help their businesses become more Sustainable, more Ethical and maybe even help them save the world at the same time.
This is a topic that I am honestly really passionate about and a lot of that comes from Anger & Climate Anxiety.
Anger at the politicians and corporations that aren’t doing enough in this world to save us.
And, Climate Anxiety from worrying about whether the world is going to end and the depressing fact that I don’t want to have kids because of it.
It’s not all doom & gloom though in addition to speaking really interesting people every episode we will be donating money to charitable causes, shining a light on companies inside & outside of tech that are helping the world become a better place & giving you practical advice on how you contribute to fighting climate change.
